My Dying Wish

I’ve been thinking about this for a few days now.  If I ever get one of those terminal diseases I’ve been hearing so much about and one of those genies who grants wishes to sick kids shows up, this is what I will ask him for:

I would like for bears (black or brown, preferably not grizzly or polar) to evolve as a species to the point where they organize a baseball league for themselves.  Everyone knows bears are powerful creatures and it would be cool to see them playing my favorite sport.  I bet they would be really good at it.

I think it would be fun to follow and bet on the league, and I would start a blog about it that would make me the preeminent expert on baseball for bears, kind of like how Norman Chad is somehow the expert on poker played on TV.  Anyway, I’ve done a lot of thinking about this and I would like for this to happen.  I can’t see a downside.  Now, who do I see about getting some cancer?

So this is a real thing.

So this is a real thing.

I don’t know what you think about drugs, but I like them.  I tell you this because it is (though perhaps only tangentially) related to another thing I like: stories.  I like thinking about them, and working them out, and maybe even writing them down.  As such, I sometimes come up with the beginning of a story idea that I might like to work out later.  I write my ideas on red post-its and put them in a notebook for a rainy day.  Anyway, given that the first sentence of this paragraph and the sentences that follow are sometimes related, I present to you an “idea” that I apparently had at some point last night, stuck to my laptop for me to find this morning.  Since it is on a red post-it, I know that I specifically meant to turn this into a story, but I have no idea how or what I meant when I wrote it.  It is going into the notebook, though.  I am intrigued.

What I’m Watching

I just spent way too much time reordering and updating the series recording priority on my DVR.  Here’s what I came up with:

  1. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
  2. South Park
  3. Important Things with Demetri Martin
  4. 30 Rock
  5. The Office
  6. Parks and Recreation
  7. Saturday Night Live (Who says I’m not loyal?)
  8. Family Guy
  9. Saturday Night Live Weekend Update
  10. Michael & Michael Have Issues
  11. The Simpsons
  12. Community
  13. Modern Family
  14. Iron Chef America
  15. Diamond Demos
  16. Man vs. Wild

A lot of my Nat Geo/History Channel/Discovery shows get recorded on a show by show basis and don’t make my series list.  What else have I missed?

The Phillies won the NL East tonight for the 3rd year in a row.  This makes me so happy.  Beyond happy.  I can’t help but feel like my life would have been much different if this was what church felt like.  This is what church should feel like.
